All Star Team

Carter Gurrola, Ardmore, OK. Carter is a 16 year old Christian and a sophomore at Dickson High School. He is starting his second year in the Oklahoma High School Rodeo Association. Carter has competed in rodeo for about eight years. Team roping is his favorite event because he can rope with his family and friends. When Carter is not in the arena he is usually hunting hogs, deer, turkey, or at the river fishing with his friends. He is on the Dickson High School skeet team. Carter's favorite thing about his new NRS Trailer is the back tack. "It has a lot of room and very accommodating" Gurrola said.

Hannah Gurolla, Ardmore, OK. Hannah is a 14 year old Christian and freshman at Dickson High School. This is her first year in High School Rodeo. Hannah's favorite event is breakaway roping, mainly because "it’s my best event and I have a really nice horse" Gurrola said. She really doesn't have one feature she likex best about the NRS Trailer because she likes everything!! She enjoys playing basketball and hanging out with her older sister, Lindsey, and her friends. Hannah enjoys her youth group on Wednesday nights and growing in God's word.

Kayla Copenhaver, Saint James, Missouri. Kayla is a 14 year old freshman at John F. Hodge High. This is her first year in Missouri High School Rodeo, but rodeo has been in her family. Her dad is a bareback rider, her mom is a barrel racer and her brother was a tie-down roper who is now in the Air Force. Kayla competes in barrel racing, pole bending, and sometimes goat tying. Her favorite event is pole bending, mainly because she and her horse (Hildie) get along so well. "To most people poles is hard, but for me and Hildie they're just a breeze; we placed 4th in the Average at Junior High Nationals last year in the poles" said Copenhaver.  Kayla's favorite feature in her NRS Trailer is the way the bathroom is set up. "There's so much more room, and I also like how the hay-pod opens up so far it's very easy to walk into" said Copenhaver.

Morgan Keeling is a 16 year old sophomore at Lovelady High School. This is her first year in the Texas High School Rodeo Association, Region IX and she is competing in breakaway and goat tying. In 2010, she was crowned Rising Sun Rodeo Queen. In 2013 she competed in the Crockett Lions Club Rodeo Queen Contest and was named 2nd runner-up. Morgan gets her love of horses from her Papaw as he has had her on a horse since she was two years old. She also competes in cross country, basketball and track. When she is not in the saddle she loves hunting and spending time with family and friends. Her favorite part of the NRS trailer is the living quarters because having the conveniences of home while you are at the rodeo makes the experience much sweeter.

Shelby Poorman, Katy, TX. I am Shelby Poorman and love horses.  Since I was a baby I have loved riding horses and started competing in speed events at 9 years old.  My first barrel horse was Stan.  He was my first love and would do anything for me.  He was so patterned in barrels and poles that even when I made a mistake he did the right thing.  I lost him to colic after I won my first saddle on him.  I now have a six year old mare, Annie, I am training.  She has a lot of speed and will carry me through my High School Rodeo days.  It has been fun and challenging seasoning her on barrels.  We have started her on poles but it is really not her thing.  Mejo, an 11 year old gelding, is now my pole horse.  He has a heart of gold and loves to do poles.  He may not be the fastest pole horse but will win in a series with consistency every time.  I am in training for breakaway roping.  Hopefully, I will be good enough by next year to enter roping in the High School Rodeos.  I am in 8th grade and enjoying Jr. High Rodeo for the first time.  I plan to continue next year into High School rodeo and eventually joining a college rodeo team.  My lifelong goal is to be a professional barrel racer and a horse trainer but most of all never stop improving and learning along the way.
